Turkish-Russian 110th Joint Patrol Runs in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Military Police (MP) conducted on Monday a joint patrol with Turkish forces in the western countryside of Kobani, north Syria.
This is the 110th patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement in 2019.
Following the Turkish incursion in October 2019, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US stipulating ceasing all hostilities, launching joint patrols, and the withdrawal of the SDF 32 km away from the Turkish border.
The SDF did withdrew from the border areas according to the agreement, but Turkey continues targeting the area.
The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles, set out from the village of Ashma, 20 kilometers west of Kobani.
The patrol passed the villages of Charqli Fouqani, Qeran, Dikmadash, Khorkhoy, Boban and Jol Bek reaching to the village of Tel Sha’ir 4 Km west of Kobani.
The patrol then immediately returned to the starting point in Ashma, passing through the villages of Susan, Qola, Qaraqoy Tahtani, Binder, Mishko, Jebneh, Charqli Fouqani.
The Turkish military vehicles returned to Turkey through the gate near Ashma, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin, south of Kobani.
On August 22, Russian-Turkish vehicles conducted the 109th joint patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani amid targeting villagers by Russian helicopters, tear gas and bullets.
