Turkish Forces shell village north of Syria’s Hasakah

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Saturday evening a village in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

A source in the Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press, ”The Turkish forces targeted with several artillery shells the inhabited village of Tel al-Laban, west of Tel Tamr.”

The shelling caused material damage but no loss in human life.

This bombardment comes after three days of calm in the Tel Tamer area and the northern countryside of Hasakah.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25.000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.

The town has been under constant attack by Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), for more than two years.
