Russian, Syrian forces examine Turkish shelled site in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Russian and Syrian forces headed on Wednesday to the town of Tel Rifaat in Aleppo northern countryside to investigate a market shelled by Turkish forces.
On Wednesday, the Turkish forces targeted a popular market in the town of Tel Rifaat resulting in civilian casualties including children.
The shelling killed three people and injured six others, according to a source from Tel Rifaat Hospital. A number of those wounded were transferred to the town of Fafin in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
A military source told North Press, “An officer and two soldiers of the Russian forces, accompanied by members of the Syrian government forces, went to the site to carry out an inspection.”
The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.
Turkey has escalated its attacks on areas in north and northeast Syria, using artillery and drones following Tehran Summit on July 19, in which Turkey failed to obtain a green light by Iran and Russia to invade Tel Rifaat and Manbij.
