Mass grave of 5 bodies found in Syria’s Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Teams of service facilities of the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo Governorate, found on Tuesday a mass grave, while working to expand a road in the eastern countryside of the city.

News of finding a mass grave included five members, near the village of Naddah, east of Azaz, went viral on social media.

Photos of exhuming the bodies by specialized teams also were circulated.

The specialized teams exhumed five bodies, as they believed that they belong to a woman, a child and three men, according to the circulated news.

However, there was no information how old the cemetery was.

During the decade-long Syrian war, several mass graves have been found in different areas of the country, most of them are related to the days when ISIS controlled large swathes of Syria.

ISIS lost its final stronghold in Syria in March 2019. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, defeated ISIS after fierce battles in the town of Baghouz in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, bringing an end to the so-called caliphate declared by the terrorist ISIS.
