Turkish attacks on NE Syria kill 52 people in 2022 – VDC-NSY
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Violations Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) said on Tuesday that since the beginning of the year, the number of attacks committed by Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), have reached 361 ones.
VDC-NSY said in a statement that those attacks resulted in the killing of more than 52 people, including 4 women and 11 children, and injuring more than 450 others.
It also caused material damage in residential neighborhoods and agricultural lands, in addition to targeting more than 29 service facilities.
Since the beginning of 2022, Turkey has carried out 54 drone strikes on the areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), causing about 130 casualties, as 45 individuals were killed, including five children and injuring 85 other, according to the VDC-NSY.
The center demanded guarantor states (Russia and the US), international community and international organizations to take a firm stance towards these consistent aggressions and to stop the deliberate attacks against civilians in northeastern Syria.
Recently, Turkey escalated shelling of contact lines in northeastern Syria, leading to a huge wave of displacement and claiming the lives of civilians, including children, in addition to targeting posts of government forces.
