Syria’s Raqqa tribes call for rapprochement between SDF, moderate opposition

Raqqa, Syria (North Press) – Tribes of Raqqa Governorate in northern Syria called on Tuesday Syrian moderate opposition to work for a rapprochement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against Turkish schemes in northern Syria.

Raqqa’s tribal leaders and notables issued a statement calling on the moderate opposition to “cooperate” with the SDF after the Turkish recent statements to reconcile with the Syrian government.

The Turkish statements target the “administrative project” represented in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the statement read.

Ramadan al-Rahhal, leader of al-Ali tribe, said that the popular rejection of the recent statements by Turkish officials to reconcile with the Syrian government is clear in northwest Syria.

“The moderate opposition that rejects the Turkish occupying approach and rapprochement with the Syrian government called on SDF to show solidarity against such schemes,” al-Rahhal told North Press.

He added that the Turkish presence in Syria is a “rejected occupation” by the Syrians whose task today is to solve their internal differences and join hands in the face of the Turkish plots.”

“Northeast Syria reaches out to honest people in the Syrian opposition and calls on them to unite against Turkey,” al-Rahhal said.
