33 parties in Syria’s Qamishli urge Damascus reject reconciliation with Turkey
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, 33 political parties in northeastern Syria called on Syrian government to stay away from any reconciliation with Turkey, because it “does not fulfill the hopes of the Syrian people.”
This came during a statement read by Sanharib Barsoum, co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, in the presence of several political parties in the city of Qamishli.
The Syriac Union Party is active within the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The statement urged the Syrian government to cooperate with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to expel the “Turkish occupation.”
The parties drew attention to the overwhelming opposition to this normalization by those living in the Turkish-held areas in northern Syria, stressing that such an agreement “goes beyond the will of the Syrians.”
The statement described what is happening as “disregarding the Syrian blood,” noting that all parties involved in the Syrian crisis must resolve their conflicts away from what causes suffering to the Syrian people.
The political parties held the US-led Global Coalition the responsibility for deterring what they described as the “Turkish orgy.”
