Turkish violations against human, nature in Syria’s Afrin continue

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), chopped down, last week, about 155 olive trees in the countryside of the Kurdish-city of Afrin, north of Aleppo Governorate, northern Syria.

Militants of the SNA chopped down 80 olive trees in the village of Qibar, southeast of Afrin city and about 75 in the village of Bulbul in the north of Afrin.

The city of Afrin and its countryside has been under the occupation of Turkey since March 2018 following a military operation called “Olive Branch”.

The operation, launched by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions, caused the displacement of more than 300.000 of the original inhabitants of Afrin, who have been taking shelter in 40 villages and five camps in Shahba region in Aleppo northern countryside since then.
