3 SDF fighters wounded in clash with smugglers in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were wounded on Monday night during a clash with smugglers in a town east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

An SDF military source in the town of Diban, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said that a patrol of the SDF clashed with a group of smugglers when they raided the Latwa River crossing which led to the injury of three SDF fighters.

The wounded were taken to the military hospital in the al-Omar oil field, and their injuries ranged between moderate and critical, according to a doctor in the hospital, the source added.

The source indicated that the smugglers managed to flee towards the areas held by the Syrian government forces after clashes lasted for more than an hour. 

The SDF raid, from time to time, the smuggling crossings which link their areas of control with the areas of the Syrian government, and the raids often result in clashes with smugglers. 

Two days ago, two members of the government forces were killed in an armed clash between two factions affiliated with the government forces, as a result of a dispute over smuggling crossings in the eastern countryside of Dire ez-Zor.
