Turkish forces shell school in south of Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted on Monday a school in the village of Ibbin in the northern countryside of Aleppo, causing material damages.

An eye witness told North Press that seven shells hit on the village, two of them landed in the school yard and another landed on a close location.

The shelling led to power outage in the area and property destruction.

The school is inhabited with IDP families from Afrin region who were terrified by the shelling, according to the same witness.

Since the Turkish “Olive Branch” military operation in 2018, through which Turkey occupied Afrin region, the original inhabitants fled their homes and resorted to Shahba region (Aleppo northern countryside) which includes about 40 villages and five camps, and is controlled by Syrian government and Russian forces.

In a related context, Turkish artillery shelled on Sunday evening the villages of Tel al-Madiq, Tel Zoyan, al-Shaala, Tel al-Anab and Shahba Dam with more than 15 shells according to a military source.

The villages of the northern countryside of Aleppo witness a continued Turkish military escalation, as they are bombed almost daily.

The Turkish military escalation in the northern countryside of Aleppo coincides with recent statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, threatening to launch a military operation on northern Syria particularly Tel Rifaat and Manbij.
