ISIS Claims attack on SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Monday responsibility for targeting a military vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement saying, “The organization’s militants blew an IED that was planted in the SDF vehicle in the town of Sabha.”
A military source in Sabha in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor told North Press that the IED exploded while the SDF vehicle was travelling on the main route in the town.
As a result, the vehicle was damaged without reporting casualties among the SDF fighters, according to the source.
Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.
The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
On Saturday, ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack with machineguns targeted a military headquarters of the SDF in the town of Abu Hardub in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
