Blast claims life of 2 people in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Two people were killed and three children were injured on Sunday as a result of an explosion in a house in a town in Daraa eastern countryside, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that Abd Taha al-Ammarin and Sabah al-Shaabin were killed in an explosion in their house at a late hour on Sunday night.

The two casualties were taken to Daraa National Hospital where they lost their lives there.

The source pointed that three children were wounded due to the explosion and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Another source suggested that the reason behind the explosion was that “an IED was hidden in the house and it was exploded because it was tampered with, for al-Amarin was known for his drug dealing work.”

The young man Murad Ali Jaber al-hashish was killed on Sunday in Tel Shihab in Daraa western countryside.

A local source told North Press that the young man was killed after being shot by unidentified gunmen which caused his immediate death.

“Al-Hashish is a civilian person who does not work for any military or security party.”

Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.

In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. After that, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, with mediation of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement on September 5, 2021, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security posts in the towns of the governorate.
