Reports of Turkish forces evacuating bases in Syria’s north

TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – A field source told North Press on Monday that Turkish forces evacuated two bases in the western countryside of Tel Abyad, in the northern countryside of Raqqa, northern Syria.

The source said that the Turkish forces withdrew from their military bases in the villages of Hareqli and Tel az-Zeit, 25 km southwest of Tel Abyad.

The city of Tel Abyad and its countryside has been occupied by Turkey following a military operation called “Peace Spring” which it launched with the armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA),

The SNA militants accompanied the Turkish forces during operation withdrawal, the source added.

A military source said that a continuous shelling, since yesterday, from the Syrian government targeted both bases.

Another field source outweighed that this may be a process of exchanging forces, and it was taken out as a withdrawal, she said.

The city of Tel Abyad and its countryside have been under the Turkish forces’ and SNA factions control in since 2019 after the launch of the so-called Peace Spring on Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain).
