Erdogan, Putin summit stresses on integrity of Syrian territory

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed, after a lengthy meeting in Sochi, on the importance of preserving the territorial integrity of Syria.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Friday that the meeting that was held between the abovementioned presidents ended after four hours.

In the meeting, the two presidents discussed several files, most notably the Syrian issue, Energy and Ukraine.

Russian media pointed out that the two parties discussed that the political process in Syria should be addressed according to Astana formula.

After the meeting, in a joint statement, the two parties stressed the necessity of preserving the unity and integrity of the Syrian territory.

Both of them renewed their commitment to work and coordinate together to fight “terrorism.”

Earlier, Peskov told reporters on Syria that his country takes Turkey’s security concerns into account.

“It is important to avoid actions that could threaten the territorial integrity and political unity of Syria,” Peskov added.
