ISIS claims beheading former SDF fighter in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State  (ISIS) claimed on Thursday beheading a former fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement saying that the organization’s militants had beheaded a former SDF fighter and seized his motorbike.

It added that the reason behind the killing was his former service with the SDF and fighting against ISIS in the battle of Baghouz five years ago.

A local source from the village of Abraha, east of Deir ez-Zor, said that the residents there found the body of the beheaded young man Zidan al-Fhaiman, who hails from the village, near the popular market there.

The source added that the residents found a piece of paper with the body, in which the terrorist organization claimed the killing and explained that it was on charges of fighting against them in the battle of Baghouz.

The source stressed that “al-Fhaiman had been working in motorcycle trade for nearly three years, and was not affiliated with any political or military group.”

During the past few days, the central villages and towns in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have witnessed an unusual activity of ISIS cells.

On Wednesday, ISIS took responsibility for murdering two SDF fighters in the town of Sabha, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On Thursday morning, ISIS claimed killing young man Ayesh al-Meizer, after he had been kidnapped earlier, on charges of dealing with the SDF. The man hailed from the town of al-Zerr in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside.
