Turkey deported 2.000 Syrian refugees in July
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The management of Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey in northwest Syria revealed on Wednesday that Turkish authorities deported about 2.000 Syrian refugees in July to areas held by Turkey and its affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA).
“The number of Syrians deported to Syria during July reached 1.942, including men, women and the elderly,” the Bab al-Hawa management posted on its official Facebook account.
The total number of those travelling from and to Turkey through Bab al-Hawa is 14.599 travellers, including 2.769 women and 11.830 men.
The Bab al-Hawa management explained that 5.296 persons left Syria to Turkey, and 9.303 entered Syria coming from Turkey.
On May 3, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan disclosed about his plan to settle about one million Syrian refugees in 13 Syrian areas, which are not the areas the refugees are originally from, adjacent to the southern border of Turkey starting from Azaz in the west, to Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in the east.
The management revealed that more than 1.729 persons were forcibly deported during June.
Turkey is working on deporting Syrian refugees illegally claiming that the refugees violate the asylum laws and not updating their own data regarding the Temporary Protection Card (Kimlik).
