AANES discusses amendment of organizations law in NE Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Office of Humanitarian Affairs affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Northeastern Syria discussed on Sunday proposals and opinions about amending the organizations’ work law in northeastern Syria.
The meeting was held in the AANES building in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, in the presence of officials of the Office of Humanitarian Affairs and representatives of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated ISIS militarily.
Nasser Haj Mansour, a member of the committee to reformulate the work of the organizations, said that the meeting that took place today in Raqqa was preceded by several meetings that were held in other areas of northeastern Syria.
The purpose of the meetings “is to reach a draft of a new law that organizes the work of organizations in the region by consensus between representatives of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations and the AANES,” according to Mansour.
The work law of organizations in areas held by the AANES is “no longer keeps pace with the volume of work entrusted to civil society organizations in northeastern Syria,” he added.
Mansour pointed out that the coalition put forward some proposals and opinions regarding legal articles and clauses that impede the organizations’ work in developing administrative governance.
He stated that the AANES agreed to discuss the work law of organizations with the coalition, and this is what happening during the discussion sessions that were held and will be held during the coming period.
The discussion sessions are supposed to take a period of more than thirty days, according to Mansour.
In 2021 October, the coalition held its founding conference in the city of Qamishli, with the attendance of 200 organizations and associations from all regions of northern Syria.
