Syria’s AANES hands over 146 ISIS children, women to Tajikistan
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East (AANES) handed over 146 children and women of the Islamic State (ISIS) from Tajikistan, to their country’s delegation.
The handover took place at the headquarters of the AANES Department of Foreign Relations in the city of Qamishli, during a press conference hrld by Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan in Kuwait, and the co-presidency of the AANES Foreign Relations Department Fanar al-Gait.
The AANES handed over about 121 children and 25 women to the delegation, al-Gait said during the press conference.
al-Gait indicated that through contacting the concerned authorities, we knew that these children and women did not commit any terrorist crime in both Hawl and Roj camps, so talks have been underway for several months to repatriate them.
Ambassador Zubaydzoda stated that there was coordination between the relevant authorities and the Republic of Tajikistan to repatriate its citizens.
Al-Gait further explained that this was not the first visit for the ambassador of Tajikistan, as he had a previous visit, during which he discussed the situation in Syria and the regional risks and threats.
“The delegation had previously visited the camp to reveal those bearing the Tajik nationality in the camp because most of them do not have any documents proving their Tajik citizenship,” al-Gait noted.
“There are citizens from more than 52 countries, therefore, an international solution is required, the AANES has provided all facilitations and appealed to these countries to end this complicated and dangerous issue,” the co-presidency of the AANES Foreign Relations Department concluded.
