Government forces kidnap civilians, tension rises in Syria’s Suwayda  

SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – For the second day in a row, the countryside of Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, has witnessed a state of tension due to kidnapping two residents by a faction affiliated with Syrian government forces.

Protestors continue to block Damascus-Suwayda highway in a response to kidnapping two civilians by an armed faction affiliated with the government’s Military Security Branch.  

A local source told North Press that an armed faction, operates under the umbrella of the government forces, led by Raji Falhout, kidnapped the civilians Jad al-Tawil and Omar al-Tawil of the village of Shahba in the countryside of Suwayda.

“The villagers gave the armed group one day to release the kidnapped,” the source added. “This coincides with complete absence of state agencies.”

As the protest continues, Damascus University, Suwayda Branch, postponed Sunday’s exams to a date will be determined later, due to the absence of most of student.
