Turkish shelling injures 3 fighters of SDF affiliated force in Syria’s Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Assyrian Khabur Guard Council, a force affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced on Saturday that three of its fighters were wounded due to the Turkish shelling of the northern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
“We condemn and denounce the Turkish attacks with heavy weapons on our Assyrian villages,” said the council in a statement published on its Facebook page.
The statement said that the Assyrian villages are being attacked with heavy weapons by the Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition factions, adding that it has caused material damage.
The council called on the countries concerned in the Syrian conflict to pressure Turkey to stop the attacks and abide by the 2019 ceasefire agreement.
Since Saturday’s morning, the Turkish forces and their affiliated factions have intensified their shelling in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah.
The villages of “Umm al-Keif, Dardara, Qubur al-Gharajna, al-Aboush and al-Sheikh Ali,” in the town’s countryside were bombarded with dozens of artillery shells, according to what a military source in the Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press.
