Turkish invasion will face fierce resistance – SDF-affiliated faction in Syria’s Raqqa

Raqqa, Syria (North Press) – The Northern Democratic Brigade said on Monday that the Turkish military operation, if it happens, will “face fierce resistance in northern Syria.”

This is came in a statement released by the Northern Democratic Brigade Forces, a military brigade affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), rejecting the continued threat of the Turkish potential military operation.

The statement pointed out that the military forces in northern Syria is ready and are prepared for a long and violent war to repel the Turkish invasion against the region.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.

On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.

“Out of concern for the Syrian territorial unity and integrity, and the principle of legitimate self-defense, the military forces are ready and can share responsibility of repelling the Turkish attacks,” the statement added.

The statement considered that Turkey is invoking flimsy and false pretexts to continue threatening the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and areas in northern Syria.

It mentioned that what Turkey is looking for is to occupy more and more of the Syrian territories and annex them under its control to guarantee its interests on the long way.
