SDF kills, arrests ISIS militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Wednesday the arrest of an Islamic State Organization (ISIS) militant and the killing of another during a security operation with the support of the US-led Global Coalition east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

In a statement on its official website, the SDF said, “The SDF Special Units, enabled by air and field support by the International Coalition forces, conducted yesterday a precise security operation in the al-Zir village, al-Busayrah town, the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.”

The operation targeted two ISIS militants who “were responsible for recruiting new terrorists, manufacturing IEDs for the terrorist cells, and conducting terrorist attacks against our forces in Deir Ezzor.”

The statement added that the SDF forces managed to arrest one militant while the other managed to flee.

Following clashes between the two parties, the remained militant was killed.

The SDF Special Forces inspected the hideout, where the ISIS militants were hiding, and confiscated weapons and equipment in addition to documents they obtained.

On June 25, the SDF, in collaboration with the US-led Global Collation, arrested a sleeper cell’s leader affiliated with the ISIS in the town of al-Busayrah in east of Deir ez-Zor.
