Forces of government, Russia bomb villages in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) — Russia targeted on Tuesday with five airstrikes the villages of Balshon and Mareian in the Zawiya Mountain area in Idlib southern countryside, northwest Syria, with no reports about the damage.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government forces heavily bombed the village of Benin in Zawiya Mountain and Majdalia, east of Idlib.

Earlier, The Russian news agency EurAsia Daily said that a process of Syrian territorial swaps is taking place between Russia and Turkey. The newspaper said it is “very likely” for Russia to allow Turkey to target Manbij and Tel Rifaat, if Turkey allows it to conduct a military operation in the Zawiya Mountain area.

This area is witnessing an exchange of shelling between the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition SNA factions and government forces.

On Monday, the government forces targeted, with artillery and missiles, the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafar Aweed, Sufuhon, Kansafra, Benin and Ruweiha in Zawiya Mountain, according to what military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.

Areas in the de-escalation zone in the northwest of Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces.
