SDF arrests ISIS leader in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in collaboration with the US-led Global Collation, arrested on Saturday a sleeper cell’s leader affiliated with the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in the town of al-Busayrah in east of Deir ez-Zor governorate, eastern Syria.

SDF Media Center said in a statement, “SDF special unites in collaboration with US-led Global Collation conducted a security operation in al-Busayrah, in which an ISIS leader was targeted.”

The statement further explained, “The leader used to provide ISIS sleeper cells in several areas in northeastern Syria with weapons and bomb-making equipment.”

The forces arrested the leader at his home in the village of Daman, in addition they found a store of weapons, IEDs and military uniforms, it added.

On June 18, with the support of the US-Global Coalition forces, the SDF arrested a leader of ISIS in the town of al-Hijnah, east of Deir ez-Zor.
