SDC discusses Turkish threats with political activists and intellectuals in Syria’s Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council held on Sunday a meeting of political activists and intellectuals in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, to discuss the Turkish threats.
The meeting was held in the Merry Land resort in the city of Raqqa, and was attended by political activists and intellectuals from Raqqa and other regions, with the participation of Ilham Ahmed, president of the SDC Executive Committee.
“Syrian women are primarily concerned with rejecting the Turkish threats and occupying new areas,” Dhabia al-Nasser, director of the Women’s Office in the SDC, told North Press.
On June 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey would soon launch a military operation in northeastern Syria in order to extend the Turkish forces’ areas of control in Syria to a depth of 30 km along the two countries’ border.
“Syrian people are not deceived by the flashy slogans launched by Turkey. They are well aware of the Turkish ambitions in the Syrian territories, which led to violations and abuses against residents in the areas under its control,” she added.
Al-Nasser said that the SDC will continue holding meetings with various social segments to convey their vision of a solution in Syria which all Syrians agree on.”
