No breakouts of ISIS prisoners from Raqqa central prison – SDF
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) refuted on Sunday the information circulated in some media outlets about a prison break by the Islamic State Organization’s (ISIS) detainees in Raqqa Central Prison, north Syria.
Since last night, members of Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) spread out in neighbors surrounding Central Prison in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria, pushing some media outlets claiming that the prison is facing an insurgency and that some prisoners have already escaped.
The SDF confirmed that “there are no such things, and the sweep operations are part of the regular and precautionary security measures on the perimeter of the prison.”
The central prison of Raqqa contains ISIS militants who were arrested during the SDF campaigns against the terrorist organization.
In addition, a source from the Asayish told North Press that they were carrying out a security campaign in the vicinity of the prison.
He also denied any escapes or internal rebellion inside the prison.
