Turkey targets villages in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), bombed two villages in Aleppo northern countryside, north Syria, while no casualties were reported.
The Turkish forces, from their military base in the town of Marea, north of Aleppo, targeted the villages of Tel Qarah and Umm Hawsh, with five artillery shells, three of them fell on a farmland, which damaged the crops, a military source told North Press.
Since the Turkish “Olive Branch” military operation in 2018, through which Turkey occupied Afrin region, the inhabitants fled their homes and resorted to Shahba region (Aleppo northern countryside) which includes about 40 villages and five camps and is controlled by Syrian government and Russian forces.
The villages of the northern countryside of Aleppo are witnessing a Turkish military escalation, as they are bombed almost daily.
On Saturday evening, the village of Aqiba and Tel Jijan were shelled with dozens of artillery shells.
Two days ago, Turkish forces targeted the town of Tel Rifaat, with two artillery shells reporting material damage.
The Turkish military escalation in the northern countryside of Aleppo coincides with recent statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, threatening to launch a military operation on northern Syria particularly Tel Rifaat and Manbij.
