In less than 24 hours, Turkey bombs Syria’s Hasakah northern countryside twice

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition SNA factions renewed shelling the village of Assyrian Tel Tawil in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeast of Syria, twice in less than 24 hours.

The Turkish forces bombed the village of Tel Tawil yesterday evening and today, with a barrage of artillery and mortar shellas, a military source told North Press.

Similarly, the vicinity of the town of Abu Rasin (Zarkan) and a number of its villages were hit with heavy weapons, resulting in material damage to the civilians’ property.

This comes after about a week of cautious calm, where the villages located on the contact lines north of Hasakah were not bombed.

Following the Turkish “Peace Spring” military operation in October 2019, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the SDF 30 km in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting Turkish-Russian joint patrols in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
