Turkey bombs villages in Syria’s Manbij countryside

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces bombed on Wednesday  the vicinity of the villages of Awn al-Dadat and al-Muhsinli, north of the city of Manbij in northern Syria, with dozens of missiles.

The Turkish forces stationed in the village of al-Halonji bombed the vicinity of al-Muhsinli village with more than thirty mortar shells, a well-informed military source told North Press.

The SDF-aligned Manbij Military Council (MMC) managed to shoot down a Turkish drone over the village of al-Muhsinli, the source added.

The Turkish forces also bombed the village of Awn al-Dadat, north of Manbij, with a guided missile, according to the same source.

According to the source, the bombardment caused The source did not mention recording any material damage or causalties pointing out that the bombing caused a state of panic among the residents, with no material damage or casualties.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced May 3 a plan by his government that would allow the voluntary return of 1 million Syrian refugees from Turkey to northern Syria.

“We are taking another step in establishing a 30km security zone along our southern border. We will clean up Tel Rifaat and Manbij of terrorists,” Erdogan told a meeting of his ruling party in parliament on June 1.

The Turkish forces bombed on Monday the village of al-Hoshariya in the countryside of Manbij with several mortar shells, but no material damage or human casualties were recorded.
