Russia, Turkey Conduct Joint Patrol West Of Syria’s Kobani

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian Military Police (MP) and Turkish forces conducted a joint patrol in the western countryside of the city of Kobani, north Syria.

This is the 102end  joint patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement in 2019.

In October 2019, following a Turkish military operation in areas of northeast Syria, the Turkish president signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The ceasefire agreements stipulating halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrols with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.

The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles accompanied by two Russian helicopters, set off from the village of Ashma, 20 kilometers west of Kobani.

It roamed the villages of Charqli Fouqani, Jebnah and Bayadah reaching to the village of Zor Maghar, the last village in the western countryside of Kobani.

After the patrol reached the village of Zor Maghar, it returned to the east, passing through the villages of Bayadah, Jebnah, Mishko, Binder, Qaraqoy Tahtani, Qola, Susan, to checkpoint of Internal Security Forces (Asayish) near the radio station, west of Kobani.

The patrol returned to the set off point in Ashma, passing by the villages of Seftak, Buban, KhorKhoy, Dikmadash, Qaran and Charqli Fouqani.

The Turkish military vehicles returned to Turkey through the gate near Ashma, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin south of Kobani.

On June 6, Russian and Turkish forces conducted the 101st joint patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani.
