Turkish forces target villages in Syria’s Manbij
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions shelled on Sunday two villages in northeastern and northwestern countryside of Manbij, a city northern Syria.
Manbij Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on its official website that the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled the village of al-Hoshariya in northeast of Manbij with three missiles. In addition, they targeted the village of Boghaz in west of Manbij with heavy and medium weapons.
The Turkish forces continually shell these two inhabited villages, which results in a state of terror and fear among residents, the council added.
On June 6, the Turkish forces shelled several villages near contact lines in both the northern and western countryside of Manbij.
On June 8, the council revealed that the toll of ceasefire agreement violations committed by Turkish forces on the countryside of Manbij in northeast of Aleppo governorate during ten days reached 445 shells.
Following the Turkish incursion in October 2019 against Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US stipulating ceasing all hostilities and the withdrawal of the SDF 32 km away from the Turkish border.
The SDF did withdrew from the border areas according to the agreement, but Turkey continues targeting the area.
