SDF thwarts infiltration by Turkish-backed factions in Syria’s Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Al-Bab Military Council, which is affiliated with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced thwarting an infiltration attempt by members of Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions in the village of al-Hota west of Manbij, a city northern Syria.
Al-Bab Military Council is a military entity affiliated with the SDF, operating in northeast of Aleppo governorate.
Manbij Military Council said on its official website that the Turkish-backed factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), tried to infiltrate into positions of al-Bab Military Council, resulting in armed clashes with medium and light weapons.
“The infiltration attempt was foiled,” the council stressed.
The armed factions retreated to their positions on the opposite part of al-Hota after a number of them sustained wounds, according to the council.
On Saturday morning, Turkish forces targeted a telecommunications tower in Manbij. The attack caused the tower to be completely out of service.
On Friday, the Turkish forces hit the village of al-Boghaz in the western countryside of Manbij with several mortars. Neither human nor material losses were reported.
