Turkey shells telecommunications tower in Syria’s Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Using mortars and artillery, Turkish forces shelled on Saturday a telecommunications tower in the village of Helwanji in north of Manbij, a city in northern Syria.
On its official website, Manbij Military Council, said that the Turkish forces and its affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), had shelled a telecommunications tower owned by the Syrian mobile network provider, Syriatel, in Helwanji.
The Manbij Military Council is a military entity affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces, operating in Manbij and the surrounding countryside.
The targeting was carried out using mortars and artillery shells, and led to the tower being completely out of service, the council added.
On June 6, the Turkish forces shelled several villages located on contact lines between the SDF and SNA factions, in both northern and western countryside of Manbij.
On June 8, the Manbij Military Council revealed the that during the last 10 days to that date, the Turkish forces targeted the countryside of Manbij with 445 shells.
