SDF targets ISIS member south of Syria’s Hasakah
SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed on Friday that its special units carried out a security operation with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, targeting a member of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), south of the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria.
The ISIS member, who hails from the village of al-Atala in Shaddadi countryside, was responsible for transferring and distributing money to ISIS sleeper cell members and their families. Also he was responsible for promoting the ISIS extremist ideology, the SDF stated on its official website.
The ISIS member participated in planning for operations that targeted service, military and security institutions, the SDF added.
Regarding the details of the operation, the SDF said, “The forces pursued the ISIS member after he fled his house, and calls were made to him to surrender, but he started shooting, which prompted our forces and the Global Coalition to deal with the matter.”
The ISIS member was killed during the shooting, the SDF noted.
The SDF fighters confiscated a weapon and documents the ISIS member owned, according to SDF website.
