Forces of government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The mutual shelling between the Turkish-backed opposition SNA factions and the government forces continued on Thursday in several areas in the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria.
The government forces bombed the opposition factions’ posts in the towns of Sufuhn, al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Kasanfra and Benin in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and missiles, military sources in the opposition told North Press.
Similarly, the opposition’s posts in the villages and towns of Taqad, Kafr Ta’al, Ajel, and Kafruma in the western countryside of Aleppo were also shelled by the government forces, according to the same sources.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham along with the SNA and other jihadist groups, struck the government forces’ posts in the city of Kafr Nabl and the town of Kafruma, south of Idlib, with artillery shells and missiles,” military sources in the National Liberation Front told North Press.
The opposition forces also bombed the government forces’ posts near Beit al-Azem in the northern countryside of Latakia, with heavy artillery and missiles, according to the sources.
“The mutual bombing came in tandem with frequent flight of Russian reconnaissance planes and aircraft over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia, northwest Syria,” the sources added.
Areas in the de-escalation zone in the northwest of Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
