Shelling between forces of government and opposition continues in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, several areas in the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria, witnessed mutual shelling between Turkish-backed armed opposition forces (SNA) and the government forces.

“The government forces targeted the opposition forces’ posts in the towns and villages of al-Fatira, Kafr Owed, Sufuhn, Kansafra, al-Ruwaiha, and Benin in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and rockets,” opposition military sources told North Press.

The shelling also struck the opposition posts on outskirts of the town of Kafr Noran and the in villages of Taqad, Ajel, Kafruma and Kafr Ta’al in the western countryside of Aleppo, the sources added.

Meanwhile al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted a post of the government forces in the city of Kafr Nabl, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and rockets, military sources in the National Liberation Front told North Press.

According to the sources,  the mutual shelling came in tandem with frequent flight of Russian reconnaissance planes and aircraft over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia, northwest Syria, without reporting any airstrikes.

Areas in the de-escalation zone in the northwest of Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
