Turkish forces shell contact lines, north of Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Saturday a village in the northern countryside of the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria with heavy artillery.
“The Turkish forces have been shelling the village of Umm al-Keif, north of the town of Tel Tamr, since early morning,” a source in Tel Tamr Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told North Press.
The shelling resulted in power outage due to damage to power lines feeding the substation north of the town, the source added.
The Turkish forces are escalating shelling the contact lines with the SNA factions in the towns of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin, and villages of the northern countryside of Aleppo. This coincides with statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, threating to launch a military operation on areas northern Syria.
