Armed attackers target government headquarters in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen attacked on Thursday two military headquarters of the Syrian government forces in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
Unknown gunmen attacked a police station and a detachment of the political security in the town of Muzayrib in the western countryside of Daraa.
As a result clashes took place and lasted for an hour, in which light weapons and RPGs were used, according to local sources.
The security services of the government forces imposed a security cordon on the place. So far no information have been recorded about human losses among the government members, according to the source.
On Thursday, the government-run news agency SANA quoted a source in Daraa Police Command as saying, “Policemen of Muzayrib are clashing with a terrorist group that attacked the police station with machine guns this morning. However, there were no injuries among the policemen.”
On September 2021, dignitaries of Daraa governorate and Syrian government reached a ceasefire agreement under Russia’s mediation which included handing over weapons of the local factions, and deploying government’s security posts in the towns of the governorate.
