Ammunition depot blast rocks Syria’s Idlib countryside

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday,a huge explosion rocked an ammunition depot belonging to a Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition group in the northern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.

One individual was killed and others were wounded, according to eyewitnesses.

The ammunition depot in Idlib, located near IDP camps, belonging to the Turkish-backed Sham Legion faction exploded at 11:30 on Wednesday near the town of Babisqa on Syria-Turkey border on the northern outskirts of Idlib, local sources and eyewitnesses told North Press.

There were conflicting reports about the cause of the explosion. Some media outlets said that a Russian missile across the sea targeted the ammunition depot.

Some others said that it was drones that targeted the area, while others said that something went wrong while the faction’s members were loading missiles from the warehouses into cars.

Sham Legion faction has not yet reported about the cause of the explosion or the extent of the human and material losses.

The sources added that the explosions lasted for about two hours, and dozens of missiles flew towards the IDP camps and the surrounding areas, as well as several missiles fell inside Turkish territory.

No confirmed information, up to the moment, was reported about the number of casualties.
