DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for targeting a checkpoint of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
The ISIS-run Amaq News Agency said in a statement that ISIS members targeted an SDF checkpoint in the center of the town of Theban east of Deir ez-Zor with machineguns and grenades.
The agency claimed that during the attack an SDF member was wounded and material losses were caused to the checkpoint.
A military source of the SDF said that unidentified armed attackers targeted an SDF checkpoint in the center of Theban, recording neither human losses nor material ones.
The attackers managed to flee, according to the SDF military sources.
Although the SDF launches intensive security campaigns, Deir ez-Zor countryside has been recently witnessing an increase in killings, targeting the SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, tribal leaders and civilians.
Two days ago, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacking of a leader of SDF in the town of Jazrat Abu Hamid in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
