Forces of government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The areas of Idlib, Aleppo and Latakia, northwest of Syria, witnessed on Sunday exchange of shelling between Turkish-backed opposition factions (SNA) and the government forces, amid frequent flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the region.
The government forces bombed the posts of the opposition factions in the villages and towns of Al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sufuhn, Kansafra, Fleifel, Deir Sunbul and Benin, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and rockets, opposition military sources told North Press.
The opposition forces’ posts in Kafr Noran, Kafr Ta’al, Sheikh Suleiman and the outskirts of the town of Ajel, west of Aleppo, were also struck by the government forces stationed in the 46th Regiment in the same area, the sources added.
Meanwhile, the SNA announced targeting the government forces’ posts in the towns of Ain Jara and Basratun, west of Aleppo, with tanks and mortar shells.
Similarly, the SNA bombed the government forces’ posts in Nahshaba hill, north of Lattakia.
The mutual bombardment coincided with frequent flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the countryside of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia, northwest Syria. Several Russian warplanes also flew without conducting any air strikes, according to the same sources.
Areas in the de-escalation zone in the northwest of Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
