Residents of Hasakah in NE Syria protest against Turkish threats
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Hundreds of residents of the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, protested on Sunday against Turkey’s recent threats to attack areas in northern Syria.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Ankara would soon launch new military operations along its southern borders to create 30-km deep safe zones to protect its notional security.
The protesters raised slogans denouncing the Turkish intervention. The protest started from al- Mufti Bridge in the city of Hasakah, reaching the building of al-Khabur Center for Culture and Art in the neighborhood.
Afaf Haski, the co-chair of the Culture and Art Board in the Jazeera region, said that “with the participation of all the communities of the city, we are protesting against Turkey’s decisions.”
Turkish National Security Council announced in a statement on Thursday evening continuation of military operations on its southern borders.
