SDF conducts successful operation against ISIS in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor – Coalition
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A source of the US-led Global Coalition revealed on Thursday that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted a successful operation against an Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cell in Deir ez-Zor governorate, east Syria.
“On May 25 2022 at night, the SDF conducted a successful operation against an ISIS sleeper cell near the city of Hajin in eastern Syria,” the source said.
During the operation the SDF fighters arrested an ISIS agent who was responsible for assassinations, according to the Global Coalition’s source.
The SDF imposed security measures in the region to guarantee that innocent residents were not harmed during the operation.
The source stressed that ISIS members want to create more instability throughout Deir ez-Zor, sparking tribal complaint because “ISIS members are hiding in their villages.”
“The SDF is committed to providing security and stability throughout Deir ez-Zor and will not tolerate ISIS putting innocent civilians in harm’s way,” the source added.
