Turkish shelling targets village in northern Syria’s Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Wednesday the village of al-Muhsinli in the northern countryside of Manbij, a city in the east of Aleppo Governorate.
The Turkish shelling came from a Turkish base located near al-Muhsinli village, 15km north of Manbij, a source told North Press.
The village was targeted with about 10 mortar shells, the source said.
The city of Manbij and its countryside were liberated from ISIS in 2016 by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with support of the US-led Global Coalition.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated ISIS militarily.
No casualties or material damage have been reported, he added.
On May 20, the Turkish forces shelled the village of al-Hoshariya in the northeastern countryside of Manbij with mortar shells. No human losses were recorded.
