Unknown gunmen open fire on a local official in Syria’s Darra
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the head of the Municipal Council in Sahem al-Golan, a Syrian village south of Daraa governorate, southern Syria, seriously wounding him.
A local source told North Press that the Head, Naim al-Nazzal, was immediately transformed to Daraa Hospital. The incident coincided with a state of security chaos in the area.
Unknown people opened fire on al-Nazzal’s house four months ago causing material damage, according to the source.
On the same day, Ammar al-Aboud, 18, was killed by unknown gunmen in al-Naima town in the eastern countryside of Daraa, although he has never joined any opposition armed factions or Syrian government forces, a local source said.
On September 2021, dignitaries of Daraa governorate and Syrian government reached a ceasefire agreement under Russia’s mediation which included handing over weapons of the local factions, and deploying government’s security posts in the towns of the governorate.
