Turkish shelling on northeast Syrian town injures three civilians

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Three civilians were wounded on Sunday as a result of a Turkish shelling on the vicinity of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah in northeast Syria.

A military source of Tel Tamr Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that the Turkish shelling on the two villages of al-Gheibish and Tawila led to the injury of three civilians.

The injured are Ayman Ali, 25, Luay Khalil, 20, and Redwan Turki, 30. They were all hospitalized at the city of Hasakah.

For four successive days, the villages of the countryside of Tel Tamr have been undergone intensive shelling by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions.

On Sunday morning, the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled the villages of Tel Shanan, Tel Juma and al-Gheibish, west of Tel Tamr, and the villages of Tel al-Ward, Khirbet al-Sha’ir and Rabi’at in the countryside of the town of Abu Rasin.

Following the Turkish “Peace Spring” military operation in October 2019, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the SDF 30 km in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting Turkish-Russian joint patrols in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
