Syrian government raises price of unsubsidized fuel

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of the Syrian government raised on Tuesday the price of unsubsidized gasoline and fuel by over 25%.

The ministry posted a statement on its official Facebook page determining the price of one liter of gasoline with an octane rating of 90 by 3,500 SYP instead of 2,500, gasoline with an octane rating of 95 by 4,000 SYP instead of 3,000, and unsubsidized fuel by 2,500 SYP.

The amendment did not include the subsidized fuel and gasoline, according to the ministry.

This premium pricing coincides with a fuel crisis, although the government is following some measures for legalization to alleviate it.
