Infighting breaks out between Turkish-backed SNA factions in Syria’s Afrin
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Heavy infighting broke out on Tuesday night between two Turkish-backed armed factions in Afrin countryside, north of Aleppo governorate.
The infighting broke out between the Military Police faction and al-Hamza Division in the village of Ma’arata, in Afrin countryside, north Syria.
Members of the Military Policy cordoned off the headquarters of al-Hamza Division in the village and opened fire at it. The Military Police claimed that there were members inside the headquarters, an exclusive source told North Press.
The source added that the clashes lasted for more than one hour, and caused fear and panic among inhabitants there.
The city of Afrin and the surrounding countryside have been under the control of the Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), since 2018.
The region has been witnessing security chaos including explosions, arrests, infighting and killings amidst the inability of those factions to settle the security there.
