Dust storm in northeast Syria causes deaths

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Health committee of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council in eastern Syria recorded 10 deaths due to the dust storm that hit the region on Sunday.

Muhammad al-Salem, the co-chair of the committee said that “the number might be more than that because the storm came quickly and we were unable to help anyone.”

Al-Salem said that they had contacted with the media committee and health centers in Deir ez-Zor to get the accurate number of the victims.

The storm was described by the residents of the area as unprecedented due to its severity and the disastrous effects it caused.

On Monday, North Press reported the death of five people, along with hundreds of cases of suffocation in Deir ez-Zor as a result of the dust storm.
