Turkey shells Russian base vicinity in Syria’s northeast

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish Army bombed on Saturday the vicinity of the Russian base plus the power station in the countryside of Tel Tamr in northeast Syria with heavy weapons.

The vicinity of the Russian base, the power station and the village of Umm al-Keif, north of Tel Tamr, were shelled by the Turkish forces, a source in the Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press.

According to the source, the Russian forces- the ceasefire agreement guarantor- took no action towards the Turkish shelling.

Russia is one of the guarantors of the ceasefire. It signed an agreement with Turkey to stop its military operations following Turkey’s invasion of northeast Syria in October 2019.

No further information has been reported so far about the results of the Turkish shelling of the area, according to the same source.

The countryside of Tel Tamr has been frequently bombed by the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition forces (SNA) since the latter’s invasion of northeast Syria in late 2019.
